The Earthshot Prize

The Earthshot Prize, founded by HRH Prince William in 2020, is a global initiative committed to repairing and regenerating the planet. By discovering, accelerating, awarding, and scaling transformative environmental solutions, the Prize inspires hope and action against climate challenges. With a mission to spotlight innovation and drive a movement of positive change, The Earthshot Prize is at the forefront of global sustainability efforts.

The Challenge

The Earthshot Prize needed a dedicated microsite to showcase its 2024 Awards, held in Cape Town, South Africa. The goal was to create an engaging digital platform that would highlight 15 transformative innovations and present a dynamic web version of a detailed report, all while maintaining alignment with the Earthshot brand. The microsite needed to be mobile-optimised, visually captivating and designed to inspire users to take meaningful action.

The Solution

We took on the task of creating a beautiful WordPress microsite under a tight deadline (just 10 days!), utilising Elementor for rapid development and design flexibility.

  • Visually Impactful Design: The microsite leverages The Earthshot Prize’s vibrant brand identity. Incorporating bold imagery, clean layouts and interactive elements. The design celebrates the ingenuity of the featured innovations while maintaining a cohesive look with the main Earthshot Prize website.
  • Showcasing Innovations: A key feature of the microsite is a dynamic scrolling page dedicated to the 15 innovations. Each innovation is presented with a mix of storytelling, high-resolution images and an interactive gallery. Anchor links were implemented for seamless navigation and deep linking from external QR codes.
  • Interactive Report: We transformed a static PDF report into a visually rich, web-based experience. Using a scrolling, one-page format, the report combines text, infographics and interactive visuals to engage a global audience.
  • Mobile Optimisation: With a focus on mobile-first design, the microsite ensures fast loading speeds, easy navigation and a visually engaging experience across all devices.
  • On-Brand Consistency: We kept to The Earthshot Prize’s established brand guidelines, maintaining consistency in typography, colours and overall tone. This alignment strengthens the connection between the microsite and the broader Earthshot platform.

The Outcome

The Earthshot Prize microsite has become a pivotal digital tool in amplifying the organisation’s mission. It has showcased the transformative innovations of the 2024 Awards and delivered an accessible, interactive version of the Earthshot Prize report. The microsite’s user experience and compelling visuals have gathered positive feedback and increased audience engagement – mission successful!
